what does the VIP tix come with?

eggfooyoung April 18, 2011 at 1:35 pm

I would imagine the VIP tix privilleges would be the same as the other events held there by BAMP. That included front of stage access, free food from Wahoo’s Fish Taco, dedicated porta potties, dedicated bar, and expedited entry.

any military discounts?

meowmix April 19, 2011 at 8:37 pm

I am going to die when I go.

eggfooyoung April 20, 2011 at 12:13 pm

the only military discount is if you buy your tickets at the military ITT/MWR, they don’t charge a service fee. that’s what they told me at Pearl Harbor NEX.

I was pretty excited for this, thought it would be like the Big Mele. start the day off with a reggae or ska band or something similar in chillness, then start with the punk rock, maybe throw in a little rap(wu tang, i’m looking at you) end it with crystal castles or a similar electronic band like a daft punk or whatever. you get the fans of all those music, everyone’s happy. Instead we get Kokua Festival 2 or BAMP Birthday Bash. We have enough of these types of shows. I know booking bands is hard, but the patchouli oil and hacky sacks will be passed out at the doors i guess. send this shit back to burning man and lets get a fun festival here. Steel Pulse is the only band I’d give props to, unfortunately all the other bands blow.

appreciate this.

AJ, are you kidding me? you like steel pulse, sure they are a classic. rebelution, the green, the dirty heads, matisyahu…. i understand you might not like reggae, so don’t go. it’s not for you. it’s for the people who love reggae. don’t talk shit about the line up if it’s not what you want, i’d rather see these guys than any of the ones you listed.

AJ. I agree with you!! I LOVED the Big Mele shows. Mix up! I love it all.

Evan Schultz May 28, 2011 at 1:05 pm

You guys should start selling tickets at the Army MWRs.

Derek May 29, 2011 at 10:03 pm

What does dedicated bar mean?

STEPH May 30, 2011 at 8:19 pm

Does free food mean unlimited food? or just one time? lol…munchies =)

anon June 5, 2011 at 10:03 pm

i listen to everything. aj said the other bands blow, i’ve seen the green in colorado, they killed. reggae isn’t my favorite genre but it doesn’t mean that i can’t love good bands. i didn’t say anything about daft punk. i didn’t say they were bad, in fact i enjoy their stuff. all i’m saying was the line up got me excited. if it’s not for you then don’t go

Anon, you make a great point. This show is reggae heavy for a reason. Because it’s a reggae show! Not everyone likes every area of music. But many people are in fact, music lovers. It sounds like AJ sticks to what he likes, which is perfectly fine. I still think you should check out this show AJ. You can listen to recordings of each group, but nothing shows you what it’s really like until you see it live. Surely if this show is not your cup of tea, then simply do not attend. The show is being put on for a reason, obviously there was a lot of interest in these groups and this type of show. I hope you do make it out, keep and open mind and experience what these groups have to offer. You might surprise yourself.

Love it that its all reggae, wasn’t that the idea with this particular promoter , to put on shows that feature a particular genre ? I like and listen to a wide variety of music ,but reggae holds a special place so Im stoked. And yea, Litle.disappointed at the lineup , but The Green , Rebelution and Matisyahu all do some decent jams. And Steel Pulse is a long time fav. It’s my daughters bday aswell , so gunna take the whole tribe down and get all Irie ;)

ziggy June 9, 2011 at 3:15 pm
